You can use them side by side with the light horse archers, and the heavies will serve to soak damage for your lights while the lights do the actual killing. Mid Game (day 121-400): As you get a decent sized force (about 80 party limit or so with tier 4's and above), and establish your economic base with factories in most cities and some land in Khergit lands, you'll want to start training up heavy horse archers in addition to the foot archers, light horse archers, and melee heavy cavalry you've been using up until now. You may want to delay getting the heavier horse archers at first, as the light horse archer line gets piercing damage faster (starting at tier 4) and generally are better at shooting than the heavy horse archers, and in the field they can always keep their distance. As such you may want to seek fighting Forest Bandits using your very competent foot archers and okay early light horse archers until your army is strong enough. However, they have some ways around this to make one of the most effective armies of the game despite their steep costs.Įarly Game (day 1-120): In the early game the Khergits will want to adopt a more standard formation of archers and infantry supported by cavalry, likely using some mercenaries to help thicken their ranks, as until they have a strong force of tier 4 melee cavalry they will likely get run over by Steppe Bandits. As cavalry cost more than infantry, the Khergits have the most expensive army in the game due to the sheer amount of cavalry they will be fielding. This makes sense when you think about it since Horse Archers overcome most of the issues that Foot Archers have, as they can avoid melee and come equipped with their own personal elevation advantage thanks to their horse.

Introduction: The Khergit Khanate in Floris Expanded is actually an Archer faction (they were honestly this way in Native too), more than a Cavalry faction in the way you might think. T7 Heavy Cavalry, Khergit Cherbi (including t5 and t6 for main line) Final Unit Composition is at the end of the post, followed by a tl dr. Unit names are using the English Translation patch for the game, but I have included a (TX) to denote the unit's tier and other identifiers. I will include tips about the early game, mid game, and late game and goals you should be striving for in terms of unit composition, and talk about battle tactics for best results. I hope this is useful or inspires new playthroughs. After doing my map conquest with the Khergits in Floris Expanded, I felt like writing a guide about them based on my experience.
